TeleHealth Support through COVID-19 Pandemic

You’re stuck at home. Your special needs child is missing out on much needed therapy. Therapy improves the quality of life for many special needs kids and without it, right now the responsibility falls solely on parents. However, some of our favorite clinics and therapists are offering Telehealth during this time! This is a great opportunity to take receive therapy from places you would otherwise have to travel to! Not to mention, if we want all of these clinics around when we re-surface from COVID-19, it is important to support them as much as we can during this time.

Something I can’t stress enough, FOLLOW all of these clinics on social media (instagram/facebook). So many of them are sharing ideas, activities, tips, etc. DAILY during the time. Free information that could help you while you’re home. These clinics are here to help us during this time, so don’t hesitate to reach out to them.

Below are all the details you’ll need to know to pick the clinic(s) that fit your needs at this time. If you have additional questions, please reach out to the specific clinic/therapist. If you are a clinic or therapist offering Telehealth services during this time and would contact me - I would love to add you!

What is the process to register, schedule, etc.?
Let's get started! https://napacenter.org/telehealth/

What is the process for Telehealth? What does that look like for your clinic?

The therapist utilizes a direct 1:1 interaction with the patient and patient’s family and may use a combination of “coaching” methods. For example, using the parent to implement therapeutic strategies and techniques throughout session.

What does a Telehealth session look like?

Telehealth sessions are intended to run the full length of a typical in-person therapy visit of 50 minutes. Part of your initial session may be comprised of a quick technical run-through, to make sure parent and therapist devices are synched appropriately. Telehealth visits are structured to address current therapy goals, troubleshoot any home exercise program difficulties, and answer any questions parents have regarding transferring skill sets from clinic environment to home environment. In short, Telehealth sessions remain personalized to each patient, with a large focus on parent/family education.

Do you use FaceTime, Skype, zoom, etc.?
We are obsessed with our platform for virtual visits, Microsoft Teams!

What equipment do you recommend families have in order to fully participate and get the most out of these sessions?
We will work with what you have in home but after you initial visit, we may suggest some additional (and optional) equipment you can purchase.

Any other information you'd like potential clients to know?
Here's what moms are saying:

"Loved being able to still do this during this difficult time. Don't be afraid to get hands on. It is pretty fun being able to help our little ones get better." - Giovana Melo

"We loved how quickly NAPA was able to get these sessions up and running. I loved how Jamie kept the session interesting by switching up activities constantly and including both our puppies and Solly's little sister (who all insisted on popping into the room) into the session. She worked in time at the beginning and end to answer my questions, gave us activities to work on at home, and provide a plan-of-action for future telehealth sessions." Cammie R.

"We love still getting great therapy even during quarantine!" - Sophie F.

What is the process for Telehealth? What does that look like for your clinic?
All therapists are working remotely under the current Covid 19 crisis.  Once this crisis is over they will return to physical face to face treatment sessions.   We are hoping to continue using this form of service delivery once this crisis is over to be able to service patients in remote areas of the state or those unable to travel to our clinics.
